Memory Maker 1 - Project and Title You can give any special event: ie: wedding, vacation, birthday, rehearsal dinner, anniversary or any occasion a title if you like, if not we will create an intro page for you. 2 – Photo Selection Choosing good quality photos is very important. The quality of your DVD slideshow depends on having good quality photos. If photos are fuzzy and out of focus, they will appear like that on your TV screen as well. If you are mailing photos that need to be scanned, they will be returned with your finished DVD slideshow. If you have old photos that are torn or faded, we will do our best to restore them, however, some old photos cannot be restored. If the photo is too damaged we will notify you. 3 – Selecting the order of the photos is imperative If you are sending digital photos on a CD or a jump drive, please re-number the photos in the sequence you would like to see them displayed, for example "1.jpeg", "2.jpeg", "3.jpeg" and so on. Use "jpeg" format only. You can also email digital photos. The easiest way to send photos is by sending them in a zip folder. By zipping your photos this will create one file that is easier to send. This prevents your computer from freezing when emailing a large number of individual photos. Make sure all the digital photos are numbered in the sequence you would like them to appear in the show. Also, please make sure the filenames of the ZIP files you upload do not contain any spaces or special characters (*/@!, etc).
a. In Windows Explorer, right click on the folder that b. Select "Send To" and then "Compressed (zipped) folder" c. Your ZIP file is now created and shown with the zipper.
Getting Started On Your Project!
Once you have selected your photos, it is imperative that you decide the order you would like them to be displayed. A chronological sequence is a necessity. You may also want to keep in mind when sorting photos, the words of the song while determining the sequence.
With photos that are not digital and need to be scanned and mailed, lightly write the sequence number with a pencil on the back of the photo. Do not use any force or pressure to damage the photo. It is suggested that Post-it Notes should not be used as they often come off during shipment.
Below are more options on how to send the photos to me, however, through trial and error along with experience, it seems that what has worked the best in the past is Snapfish or Shutterfly. If you download your photos to either of them (they are both free), I can upload them to my computer. As mentioned previously, they need to be in the order that you want them in your show.
If you are not sure how to ZIP files, below are easy instructions regarding creating a ZIP file to send us. PLEASE NOTE - it is much safer to send no more than 5 or 6 photos in each zip file. A really large ZIP file will freeze your computer and mine. Therefore, please send them in groups of 5 - 6 per ZIP file. You can always mail them to me using a CD or jump drive as long as they are numbered in the order they are to appear on the slideshow.
4. Instructions on how to create a ZIP file:
contains all of your pictures (or right click on a selection
of photos)

The zip folder usually appears at the end of your “my pictures”
folder. This is the file you want to send us.
Email to info@memorymakeronline.com - or steetz@nycap.rr.com
In the subject line please type "Photos (your last name ) DVD
Slideshow" - Example: Photos for Jones DVD Slideshow
Please take note….. if you are using a MAC make sure to inform us as we will need to upload your proof slideshow onto You Tube for your review. Using a MAC computer? Click here for MAC instructions on how to create a zip file.
5 – Using Video Clips in the Show
You may also want to use some video clips in the show. Video clips usually are trimmed to fit the sequence of the show. You can email us the video clips separate from the photos with a description as to where in the show you would like it to be displayed. If there is sound in the video clip, the background music volume will be lowered during the video clip. When emailing again, please type "Video (your last name) DVD Slideshow" - Example: Video for Jones DVD Slideshow
6 – Choosing Music for the show
Generally, most slideshows have two or three songs to provide entertainment and nostalgia. Photos are normally displayed for approximately ten seconds each; therefore, one minute would require approximately six or seven photos. Normally a song is anywhere between 3 ½ minutes to 4 ½ minutes. If you were to have a show that is approximately 7 minutes long, you would need two songs. A 10 minute show would need 50 to 60 photos and two or three songs. Videos take up more time, depending how long the video is, but we can trim the video.
